May Edochie recently opened up in an interview with Nigerian comedian Ayo Makun (AY) about misconceptions regarding her stance on family and marriage, emphasizing that she values these institutions deeply. In her words, May clarified that despite her personal challenges, she isn’t an advocate of divorce or separation. Instead, she sees marriage as fundamental, stressing that it’s essential for the continuity of human connections.
May also stated that she is not an advocate of divorce or separation.
She said, “Some men see it like I am misleading their wives. You know why because I love family, I love marriage, and I see it as the basis for family. Without family, there would be no you or me. I am not in any way advocating divorce or separation; let me categorically state here that I am not an advocate of divorce.”
Speaking further, May noted that she does not bring her personal issues online, adding that her family, friends, and online families are a big support system to her.
She said, “Having a positive mindset is key for me. I embrace authenticity, I do not take my personal issues to social media. I have this big support system: my family and friends; they are always there for me when I need them, and then my online family members. They are like a pillar; they are reliable and dependable, and they’re ready to give it back to anyone who displays their insincerity. If you choose to display your insensitivity and when it gets over the board, they come for you.”
May addressed the perception that she might be influencing other women in a way that some men see as detrimental. However, she clarified that her values are centered on family unity and stability. May also highlighted her approach to personal matters, sharing that she consciously avoids bringing her private issues to social media, instead relying on a solid support system of family, friends, and her online followers. She acknowledged her “online family” as an important source of support, describing them as reliable and ready to stand by her. Her outlook, she noted, is guided by a positive mindset and a commitment to authenticity.
