Real Madrid experienced a dramatic turn of events following their defeat to Liverpool on November 27, 2024. The team bus was involved in an accident on the M40 motorway, a route connecting key areas in England, including London, Oxford, and Birmingham. Fortunately, no players or staff were aboard the bus, as it was only transporting the team’s kit back to Madrid. The accident reportedly occurred when the bus was struck by a lorry, according to video footage shared by Daily Mail.
This incident comes shortly after Real Madrid unveiled their upgraded luxury team bus in October 2024, a high-tech vehicle reflecting the £1.5 billion investment in renovations at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium. Despite the improvements, this marks the second accident involving the team’s bus this year. In February, during a Champions League trip to RB Leipzig, the bus collided with a white Toyota due to logistical challenges caused by airport strikes.
The match against Liverpool added to the club’s woes, as they lost 2-0 at Anfield. Goals from Alexis Mac Allister and Cody Gakpo sealed the win for the English side. A missed penalty by Kylian Mbappé further fueled debates about his form under pressure. Jude Bellingham defended his teammate, expressing confidence in Mbappé’s future contributions despite the setback. Manager Carlo Ancelotti also reflected on the performance, acknowledging a solid first half but attributing the loss to critical mistakes in attack and possession during transitions.
Real Madrid now faces mounting challenges in their Champions League campaign, highlighting the need for the team to regroup and rebuild momentum.
