At the 2024 Ballon d’Or ceremony held today in Paris, Manchester City and Spain midfielder Rodri won the prestigious Men’s Ballon d’Or for his impressive season, which included winning the Premier League with City and the European Championship with Spain. Rodri secured the award over other top contenders like Real Madrid’s Vinícius Júnior.
The Women’s Ballon d’Or went to Barcelona’s Aitana Bonmatí, recognizing her exceptional contributions, particularly in Barcelona’s league success and Spain’s Women’s World Cup victory.
Other notable awards included the Kopa Trophy, awarded to Barcelona’s young talent Lamine Yamal, and the Yashin Trophy for best goalkeeper, which went to Emiliano Martinez of Aston Villa.
Additionally, Real Madrid and Barcelona’s women’s team were celebrated as the Men’s and Women’s Clubs of the Year, respectively.
