Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has confirmed that he has not yet made a decision regarding a bid for the presidency in the 2027 elections. In an interview with Daily Trust, he emphasized that while he presented himself as a presidential aspirant in the 2022/2023 elections, he is currently focused on strengthening the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) rather than pursuing personal ambitions.

He noted that many individuals and groups have encouraged him to run, but he is prioritizing the cohesion and strength of the PDP, capable of producing a viable presidential candidate. Mohammed mentioned that he is not dismissing the possibility of running in the future, stating, “if the time comes and I decide to run, no one will stop me.” He reiterated his belief in collaboration and consensus-building within the party, asserting that leadership should not be about individual superiority but about working together for a common vision.

Furthermore, he acknowledged the influence of his political mentors, specifically referencing former President Goodluck Jonathan, indicating that he would only consider a run if Jonathan were to step aside. He concluded by expressing confidence that, should he choose to run, he would have the backing of his supporters in Bauchi and beyond.
