Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has approved a new minimum wage of ₦73,000 for civil servants, slightly higher than the nationwide minimum wage of ₦70,000 recently established by the federal government. The announcement was made during the APC’s campaign flag-off in Ondo West Local Government Area, as the governor prepares for the state’s upcoming off-cycle governorship election on November 16, 2024.

Governor Aiyedatiwa, who assumed office following the passing of his predecessor, late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, highlighted his administration’s efforts to improve the welfare of civil servants through regular salary payments, promotions, and training programs. By increasing the minimum wage, Aiyedatiwa aims to further motivate the state’s workforce. He urged voters to support the APC in the upcoming election, promising continued focus on the welfare and development of the state.

The governor was joined by his deputy, Chief Olayide Adelami, and other party officials at the campaign event.
