The Nigeria Examinations Committee (NEC) concluded its 78th meeting on October 9, 2024, addressing critical issues related to examination malpractice and irregularities reported during the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for school candidates. The meeting aimed to review and enhance the integrity of future exams.
In an official update, WAEC announced via X (formerly Twitter) that candidates who are awaiting their results can begin re-checks starting from Monday, October 14, 2024. This decision follows the release of the 2024 WASSCE results on August 12, 2024. However, the results of 215,267 candidates were withheld due to concerns over malpractice, which was a key point of discussion during the meeting.
The NEC’s forthcoming communiqué will provide additional details on examination standards, results processing, and future policies aimed at further improving the examination system in Nigeria. Students, parents, and educators are advised to keep an eye out for the official updates.
