The Action Peoples Party (APP) in Rivers State has commended Governor Siminialayi Fubara for fostering a level playing field during the recently concluded local government elections held on October 5th. Hon. Sunny Wokekoro, the party’s state chairman, expressed gratitude for Governor Fubara’s leadership and fairness in ensuring that the elections proceeded smoothly. He emphasized that even though the governor’s own political party did not participate, the governor’s impartiality set a positive example for leadership in the state.
In addition, Wokekoro praised the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC), led by Retired Justice Adolphus Enebeli, for conducting a transparent and timely election. He highlighted the efficiency with which RSIEC managed the electoral process, noting the early arrival of election materials and the smooth voting experience. This, according to him, marked a significant improvement compared to previous elections overseen by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The APP’s 22 chairmanship candidates were declared winners in the elections, further solidifying the party’s gratitude for the fairness exhibited throughout the process.
Hon. Wokekoro’s speech highlights several important themes. He acknowledges the governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminialayi Fubara, for allowing the election to proceed smoothly, despite his party not contesting. This reflects an appreciation for fair governance, ensuring a democratic process without bias.
Hon. Wokekoro also expressed deep gratitude to the people of Rivers State, particularly for their overwhelming support of the Action Peoples Party (APP) in the local government elections. He attributed the party’s victory to their grassroots outreach, emphasizing how hard they worked to connect with voters.
The speech presents the APP’s leadership as one that will prioritize the needs and well-being of the people at the grassroots. His remarks suggest a commitment to a “proactive and responsive” leadership approach that aims to benefit all. He confidently hinted at the possibility of convincing Governor Fubara to join their party, once the success of their grassroots leadership becomes evident.
This shows a vision for change and a new way of governing, grounded in meeting the real needs of the citizens.
